UP TOP SCAFFOLDING

Access planning for your scaffolding project

A busy frontage, shared car park or pavement can make scaffold deliveries and installation more complicated. We help identify where the scaffold will stand, where vehicles can unload and how materials will move between the two.

Our proposed plan for Shaftesbury House in Poole illustrates the approach: a marked HGV parking and unloading area, a scaffold footprint and a controlled material-transfer zone. The amber dashed lines show indicative exclusion barriers.

This is an illustrative proposal, not an approved traffic-management layout. It is not to scale. Clearances, public access and the vehicle approach must be checked and agreed on site, with emergency access and exits kept clear.

Ask us anything
What does scaffolding logistics planning cover?

It covers the practical movement of vehicles, people and scaffold materials around your site, including access routes, unloading space, material transfer and delivery timing. The arrangements depend on the site and the scaffolding work planned.

Can you help with deliveries and unloading?

Yes. We review vehicle access, the proposed unloading area and how scaffold materials will reach the work area. The final arrangement must suit the site and any applicable permissions.

Is the Shaftesbury House plan an approved layout?

No. The image is a proposed, indicative plan and is not to scale. It shows the planning approach; dimensions, routes and clearances require site checks and any necessary approvals.

What information should I send with my enquiry?

Send the site address, proposed work dates, a description of the scaffolding work and any known access restrictions. Photos or an existing site plan can help us understand the space available for deliveries and unloading.

Up Top Scaffolding's Christchurch street scaffold for soffit repairs

Planning around pedestrian access

For our Christchurch soffit-repair project, we planned the scaffold around pedestrian access. The project shows why movement around a working scaffold needs to be considered alongside the access needed by the trades working above.

What we plan with you

The arrangements depend on your site, the work programme and any requirements set by the landowner or highway authority. We review the practical details before the scaffold is installed.

  • Scaffold position and the space needed around it
  • Delivery vehicle access, parking and unloading areas
  • Controlled transfer of materials to the scaffold
  • Pedestrian routes, entrances and emergency access
  • Indicative exclusion zones around unloading and material transfer
  • Delivery timing coordinated with the scaffolding work programme

From site access to material transfer

Start with the route into the site. We discuss vehicle access, available space and the proposed unloading position, then consider how scaffold materials will move to the work area.

On shared sites, the plan also needs to account for people using entrances, neighbouring premises and parking areas. Delivery timing, working zones and access routes should be agreed before work starts and reviewed if site conditions change.
